Nautical + Coastal Art Inspiration

While summer has just arrived in our part of the world, so many of the projects we work on exist in seriously dreamy locations-oceanside hotels, tropical resort destinations, gorgeous getaways in a state of perpetual summer.

As an ode to summer holiday and dreamy escapes, we thought it would be fun to round up some of the custom commissions Ink + Indigo has created for hospitality projects around the world. We know our Art Consulting + Interior Designer clients are always looking for coastal + nautical inspired works to place on their projects and we have so many options in our portfolio that work perfectly. From a modern take on wooden ships and large scale, sail inspired string art dimensional works to two dimensional abstract works that are evocative of the sea-there are so many original ways to bring beauty and a sense of place into these projects.

The  “Indigo Strokes” series from our licensing line literally splash across the paper-indigo pigment flows creating bold, graphic pieces that feel like waves. This is one of our larger series with 13 images that can be cropped, recolored, and scaled for any number of projects. They work beautifully together in a grouping but present perfectly solo as well.

The Botanical Inlaid Disks series are infinitely customizable and have been commissioned for resorts, hotels, and spas in so many beautiful, tropical locations. I love this soft turquoise version with distinctly tropical leafy plants we recently made for a resort in Negril. The process of inlaying botanicals into the clay, torching to reveal the patterning, then finishing with watercolor and encaustic wax makes for one-of-a-kind, truly special originals.

So much of what we do here is incorporating a sense of place into custom commissioned art work. We’d love to see what places are inspiring you and projects you have upcoming that we can collaborate on. Reach out anytime to emily@inkandindigo.com with any inquiries!
